GMC Typhoon

The GMC Typhoon was a small SUV, that was made from 1992-1993, that's not very long. Typhoons are a high performance, version of a GMC Jimmy, which like a Chevy blazer; also they were based on the GMC Syclone which is a small pick up. There were only 4,697 Typhoons made in its time period. The stock ones may have not of looked the best, but they were still very fast. They had a 4.3 LLB4 turbo V6 engine, 4 speed automatic transmission. They could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds, and could do a quarter mile run in 14.1 seconds at 95 mph. The stock Typhoons could produce 280 HP, but some were measured at over 300 HP, on a Dynamometer. A Dynamometer is like a big treadmill for cars that measures there speed without moving the car, except for the wheels. Drivers and experts have compared their performance to Ferrari's, corvettes and some other high performance cars. Their price started at $29,970, which was a bargain for a car with this kind of performance. On YouTube I saw a video of a Typhoon vs. a Corvette, the Corvette lost, because the Typhoon accelerated so fast, but the corvette caught up, and was pretty close to him at the end.

El camino

The Chevy El camino is a cool car, its not a muscle car and not real fast but if you tweak the engine and stuff then it is. They are a combination of a car and a pickup because they have a bed and are lower to the ground, and the cabin of a car. Chevy made an SS El camino, that was the faster one that people drove around for fun, they started making them in 1959 and ended in 1987. Chevy made them because people wanted a car with the load space of a truck and the comforts of a car. They were cheap, with no luxury or options, no power steering or brakes. Back in those days they weren't cool like they are today. In 1964 they made them with a v-6 194cid with 120hp or 230cid with 155hp, and the v-8 283cid with 195 or 220hp. In 1966 they started making them with the v-8 396cid engine with 325hp. My favorite years were from 1965 to 1987, because their body style was better and had more power. Before the El camino ford built the ford Ranchero in 1957 which was like the El camino. They stopped making El caminos and switched to light trucks that had more power and abilities. They are on my list of many favorite cars.

The ultimate car

This week I am going to talk about Chevy corvettes. My favorite year is the 69 and 2009 corvette. My aunt has a corvette, I think its a 1976 or 1977, I got to ride in it once, its in pretty good shape. There were 38,762 Corvettes made in 1969. The 69 coupe was available with a 427 V-8 engine that produced about 435 horse power and had a 3 or 4 speed transmission. I've seen many of these corvettes in car shows and other places and they look awesome when there all restored and sound amazing.

Now the 2009 corvettes (ZO6), I don't think I've seen one that new though. The ZR1 is the fastest and most powerful corvette unless you count the hennessey. These cars look like a sports car but sound like a muscle car, but I think its a sports car. They have a 505 horse power 7 liter lS7 engine with a 6 speed transmission. In sixth gear at about 1600 rpm it can go about 65 miles per hour. There top speed is a little under 200. It can go from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. The corvette is my most favorite car and would love to have one.

2 of the best cars

This time I will be talking about 2 of my favorite muscle cars, the 1969 Chevy Camaro and the 1969 Chevy Nova. These are 2 of my favorite old muscle cars; the 69 Camaro is my favorite year. Also my dad used to have a 69 Camaro SS and a 69 Nova; my mom also had a 71 Nova. First the 69 Camaro SS; It has 300 horse power with a turbo fire 350cid engine and 3 speed manual transmission. The 69 & 67 Camaro SS were chosen to compete in the Indy 500. They quit making Camaros in 2002, but thankfully started making them again in 2009.

Now the 69 nova; it has 375 horse power with 396 engine and has a 4 speed transmission. I do not know if they were in any big races though but if they were they’d win. These began to be made in 1962 and sadly ended in 1979. Both of these are awesome and powerful muscle cars, and would like to have one or both of these sometime. I know there powerful from videos on YouTube, like one I watched, it was a 74 Nova vs. a 2005 or 2006 TURBO Mustang GT and the nova dominated the mustang. But if the novas ever do lose, its only by a couple feet. So these are some of my favorite cars and all I have to say for now.

favorite kinds of cars

This week I am changing my topic and writing about cars because it would be hard to write about basketball 6 more times and also I know a lot about cars. First my favorite brand of vehicle is Chevy and GMC: I like GMC because they have pretty much the same trucks as Chevy. My favorite Chevy cars are the Camaro SS, corvette zo6 & z-r1, Cobalt SS, El Comino, Chevelle, all their trucks and many other cars. For ford my second favorite cars are the mustang, Ford GT, there trucks, and 1 or 2 others. I’ve always liked Camaros and corvettes and I want to get one sometime.

The 2010 Camaro V-6 has 300 horse power. The Camaro ss with a V-8 has 422 horse power, and the tweaked Hennessey Camaro supercharged has 705 HORSEPOWER!! But they cost $$109,500$$. A 2010 corvette zo6 has 502 horsepower; the corvette z-r1 supercharged has 638 horsepower. The Hennessey corvette has over 700 horsepower. These all beat the ford mustangs with V-8 engine except the Camaro V-6. The corvettes can beat ford GT’s, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Toyota superas, and many other called super cars. I know this cause I’ve seen many videos of them racing. These are just some of the cars I like; these are all mainly new ones though.

My Favorite sport

My topic is about my favorite sport, basketball. It’s my favorite because it’s fun to play and there are lots of different things you can play, like 3 on 3 (or more), lightning and double bounce and more. I was in basketball twice in 4th and 3rd grade; also I used to play basketball with my brother at our house because we had a basketball hoop. Now I am pretty good at basketball because of all this, and play when I have the chance.

My favorite teams are the Lakers, the cavaliers, and the Heat. I watch basketball games sometimes and I watch the playoffs all the time. My favorite players are Shaq, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne wade, and Lebron James. They are all very good and are from all teams that I like. I also play the NBA video games too, because they are very realistic and fun because each player has his own moves and you can play with friends, online, or by yourself. In the games you can create your own team and player and bring their stats up by winning games. They have all the teams in the game so you can play as them to; so if you play with a friend you can pick your favorites. This is why basketball is my favorite sport.

first semester portfolio- peice Id like to revise

My cause effect essay is the piece of writing I would change some if I had a chance. The essay is about me and my family being snowed in for about 2 weeks during the big ice storm of 2006 or 2007. The effects were not good we were snowed in and without electricity for about 2 weeks. We had to use a kerosene heater and a generator and play board games. It wasn’t so bad because we could turn the house on for a few hours to do regular stuff. The problem was some of my smiley face tricks weren’t very good and I had some repletion of words, some run-ons and fragments. I needed to proof read some more, but I left most of it till the before it was do. If I had done all of this it could of better but it was still okay and interesting.

Snowed In

In the year of 2006 we had a huge ice storm. When the storm began, it snowed and blew for a couple of days. On the first day you couldn't tell much accept that there was a lot of snow and it was cold. On the second day it was the same but the electricity went out because the snow turned to ice and broke the power lines. On the third day it was still snowing and the electricity was out; it went on this way for 10 more days.

First, we got our gas heater and our generator out and got those ready. We used the heater at night and slept in one room because it got very cold. When we went to bed, my brother and I had to sleep on an air mattress and put a curtain over the door to stay warm. In the morning it was so cold it felt as though icesicles were hanging from our noses. When we wanted to cook something hot, use the house furnace or watch TV we used our generator. We played many board games and cards because there was nothing else to do. Sometimes I also went outside and played in the snow or rode 4 wheeler.

Next, there was lots of ice and snow on the road, so most of the time we couldn't drive on the road. If we did drive on the roads, it would be like walking on an ice rink without skates. Once in a while the roads cleared up and we got to go to town, and get food and other things. The only other times we drove on the road was to check on things and see if they were working on the electricity wires. Sometimes when it wasn't very cold out, I would drive our 4 wheeler around and slide around on the ice, and make forts in the snow.

Lastly, before the county started plowing snow we moved some snow off the road ourselves. Also because of all the snow we had to use hay bales to feed our cows. When the snow started to melt, they started to put up new poles and wires for electricity. It wasn't so bad the first 8 days then we couldn't wait until the power came back on. When it did come on and most of the snow and ice melted, we could go back to work and school and get more food.

All in all, we had fun playing board games and doing other stuff, but after the first week we wanted the power to come back on. We had to make food last until we could get to town. We also had to do more work, but were very happy to get back to work and school and have electricity. So if you have big ice storm like this and the electricity goes out, get a small generator, some kind of gas heater, and use a lot of blankets to keep warm.
